Cancer Screening Camp for Indian Army by Can Protect Foundation

In view of increasing cases of breast and cervical cancer among women, the Can Protect Foundation has organized free women’s health camp focused on breast cancer and cervical cancer screening for women family members of soldiers and women soldiers of the 42 Infantry Brigade of the Indian Army at Dehradun Cantt on 27th November 2022.

In this camp, 276 women were examined by Dr Sumita Prabhakar (President, Can Protect Foundation) and her team of Gynecologists. Women were examined by FDA-certified I breast machine, along with breast light and clinical breast examination. Thermo mammography was also done for some women. Pap smear tests and mobile colposcopy were done for early detection of cervical cancer. Abnormal symptoms were found in 14 women, for which the Army Health Officer has been informed for advance investigation and the investigation has been arranged by the Can Protect Foundation.

During the camp, Brigade Commander Brigadier Gurbir Singh thanked the team of Can Protect Foundation and presented a memento to Dr Sumita Prabhakar. Dr Sumita Prabhakar thanked Brigadier Gurbir Singh, Colonel Alok Gupta, and Captain Mansi Joshi and presented a memento. Dr Sumita told that the women have been examined in the camp and the women who are getting some symptoms will also be further examined free of cost by the Can Protect Foundation, the information of which has been made available to the Shivalik Brigade. Dr Sumita Prabhakar told the women present in the camp about the prevention and early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer and informed them about the Can App. Many women have downloaded the CAN app on their mobiles.
