About 75 women in the village of Dharmawala, Herbertpur were screened for Breast cancer at health camp organized at Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Hospital on 29 Sept 2019.
Gynecologist Dr. Sumita Prabahkar said the camp will help diagnose abnormalities that may be indicative of breast cancer. Women were also provided flyer with the information How to do Breast Self Examination.
A team of experts examined the women who came from nearby neighborhoods and the specific focus was on sensitizing and screening for breast and cervical cancer. Apart from it comprehensive gynecological examination was also conducted by a gynecologist for women.
Following the camp, a multipronged communications strategy will be adopted to sensitize and raise awareness on healthy living and disease prevention along with targeted programs on disseminating information on breast cancer prevention will be intensified.
All women aged between 25 and 65 years in the nearby area are urged to come for screening.
