Can Protect Foundation Conducts Free Breast Cancer Screening and Pap Smear Camp for Incarcerated Women
In an effort to extend essential preventive healthcare to underserved populations, Can Protect Foundation, led by Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, organized a Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness and Health Camp for women prisoners at District Jail, Dehradun.
This impactful initiative was conducted in collaboration with The Arpit Foundation and aimed to promote early detection of breast and cervical cancer—diseases that are both treatable when caught early.
Free Services Provided During the Camp
More than 50 women prisoners benefited from various free cancer screening and women’s health services provided during the camp, including:
- Free Breast Cancer Screening
- Free Pap Smear Test for Cervical Cancer
- Comprehensive Women’s Health Checkups
- Medical Consultations by Trained Doctors
- Breast Self-Examination Workshops
Why This Camp Was Important
Women in prison often face barriers to healthcare access, especially preventive screenings. Breast and cervical cancers are two of the most common cancers in women, but early detection through regular checkups, clinical exams, and awareness can save lives.
By reaching out to incarcerated women, Can Protect Foundation is actively working to ensure that no woman is left behind in the fight against cancer, regardless of her circumstances.
