Mother’s Day: Menstrual Hygiene and Adolescence Health Workshop conducted by Dr Sumita Prabhakar
On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Dr Sumita Prabhakar, President of Can Protect Foundation, addressed the girls studying in class 5 to 9 at Sunrise Academy Dehradun on the topic of menstrual hygiene and Health in Adolescence . She also distributed Free coupons for Thermo Mammogram and iBreast Exam for free breast health screening to the mothers of girl students studying in the school. With these coupons mothers can come for free breast check up anytime.
She talked about the myths and facts about menstruation and health during adolescence age. During this health talk Dr Sumita Prabhakar emphasized on teachers and parents role during the adolescence age of girl child and also on the need to educate every mother about regular health check, exercises, proper diet and cancer screening. After the presentation, many girls and teachers asked questions which Dr Sumita answered. A young girl asked how she would know if her period is about to start, Dr Sumita answered it and also appreciated this girl for asking such a good question. It was good to see the curiosity among the students about their health. The coming generation is conscious about their health.
