October month is observed as the Breast Cancer Awareness month, Techfest, IIT Bombay and Can Protect Foundation in collaboration organised Nidaan initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education.
This 3-day Breast Cancer Education initiative is comprised of educational sessions on the digital platform for the students of various colleges across India. Colleges like YCCE – Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering , Roorkee College of Engineering , BN College of engineering and technology, Lucknow participated in the Cancer Awareness Session.
The resource person for the education sessions was Dr Sumita Prabhakar, President and Founder of Can Protect Foundation and leading gynecologist. Various Webinars were organised for this initiative and all the webinar were hosted by Dr Sumita Prabhakar, Objective of these webinar were to spreading awareness on Breast Cancer, women’s health and well-being. PowerPoint presentation with complete details about Breast Cancer symptoms, risk factors, early detection methods, screening, Breast Self Exam, lifestyle modification was presented during the session.
Dr Sumita defined how important it is for it to be detected at an early stage to be given the best of treatment. She highlighted the aspects of breast cancer and women who are prone to the illness. She also discussed how we could detect breast cancer early and protect ourselves from major impact.
Dr Sumita also discussed having a healthy lifestyle. She emphasised how vital it is to follow a healthy diet, exercise and do the screening tests to detect cancers at an early stage before anyone can feel it. She also urged Students to download Canapp to learn how to do Breast Self Exam, Canaap is available free of cost at Google Play Store.
Dr Sumita addressed all the queries posted and asked by the participants. A total of 434 students participated in the sessions. The webinar was appreciated by the participants.
Nidaan initiative was jointly inaugurated by leading Bollywood actress and motivational speaker Aarti Chabaria and Dr Sumita Prabhakar.
