World Breastfeeding Week 2025: Dr. Sumita Prabhakar’s Health Talk at CIMS & R College of Nursing
On 6th August 2025, Can Protect Foundation joined the celebrations of World Breastfeeding Week 2025 at CIMS & R College of Nursing. The theme of this year was “Prioritizing Breastfeeding – Creating a Sustainable Support System.”
Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, President of Can Protect Foundation and Senior Gynecologist at CMI Hospital, Dehradun, was invited as the Chief Guest. She delivered an important health talk to nursing students on the value of breastfeeding.

During her session, Dr. Prabhakar explained that breastfeeding is the best nutrition for infants, helps in building strong immunity, and strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child. She also emphasized the importance of old traditions where breastfeeding was always encouraged. Highlighting the health benefits for mothers, she explained how breastfeeding can reduce the risk of breast cancer and improve overall maternal health. She encouraged the nursing students to spread awareness in their communities and support mothers in adopting and continuing breastfeeding practices.
The program also included awareness-building activities such as poster making, face painting, and rangoli competitions. Students actively participated, and winners were recognized for their creativity and enthusiasm.
