World Cancer Day 2026: Can Protect Foundation Leads Nationwide Awareness

On the occasion of World Cancer Day 2026, Can Protect Foundation organized a series of awareness initiatives to highlight the importance of early detection and timely screening in the fight against cancer.

As part of these efforts, an online awareness session on Breast and Cervical Cancer was conducted for the female family members of Indian Army personnel at the Jaisalmer and Jodhpur Military Stations. The session was led by Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, leading gynecologist and Founder President of Can Protect Foundation, who spoke about the importance of recognizing early symptoms, regular screening, and breaking the silence around women’s health issues. To further extend the message, an article on cancer awareness was also published in Hindustan Newspaper.

To mark the day, Can Protect Foundation also launched the #1MinForCancerAwareness campaign, inviting schools, institutions, and organizations across India to observe one minute of silence in support of cancer fighters and their families, while spreading awareness about prevention and early detection.

Many educational institutions and organizations joined hands with the foundation in this meaningful initiative, including Amber Group, Mayo College Ajmer, Mody School Laxmangarh, Unison World School, Shri Sanatan Dharam Kanya Inter College Geeta Bhawan, Sunrise Academy B.Ed College, all branches of Gyananda International School, Cherry Kids School, Shri Gurunanak Doon Valley School, Hello Kidz School, Kendriya Vidyalaya ITBP, Indian Army, Ajna Lens Mumbai, CMI Hospital, MS Galaxy Hospital, and Time Media Production.

What made the campaign even more impactful was the participation of people from different parts of the country, especially women and youth from the Garhwal hills and other remote areas. Many participants recorded and shared their own videos on social media, helping spread the message of cancer awareness to a wider audience. The hashtag #1MinOfSilence trended on Instagram throughout the day, reflecting the strong collective support for the cause.

From classrooms to army families to remote villages, the message reached far and wide: awareness and early detection can save lives.

Can Protect Foundation expresses sincere gratitude to teachers, students, institution heads and staff, Indian Army officers and AWWA members, individuals who recorded and shared their videos, and the dedicated volunteers and team members of the foundation for their efforts in spreading this life-saving message.

Stand with awareness. Stand for early detection.
