Can Protect Foundation marks World Cancer Day through Screening, education and awareness activities

To mark World Cancer Day, four different programs were organized by Can Protect Foundation in three different areas, Tehri Garhwal, Dehradun, and Jalandhar. Around 4000 women have benefited jointly through all these activities.

270 Women Screened for Breast Diseases and Cervix Abnormalities

The first program was organized on 2 February 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, a free women’s health and cancer prevention camp was organized at Naur village in Tehri Garhwal district. 270 women availed the facilities like gynecological examination, breast, and cervical abnormality screening, blood sugar, blood pressure screening near to their home. Free medicines were distributed to the patients. Women from villages like Naur, Basui, Kyari, Tachhala, and Odarkhet came for a checkup. Tehri Garhwal District Magistrate V Shanmugam and SDM Narendra Nagar Ms. Yukta Mishra also released teaching material made in the Garhwali language on breast self-examination. Educating School Girls about Cancer Prevention, Screened 110 women for Breast Dieaseases

“Meri maa swasth maa” program was organized on 4 February World Cancer Day at Sri Sanatan Dharma Kanya Inter College, Geeta Bhawan in Dehradun. Dr. Sumita Prabhakar educated the schoolgirls on adolescent health, cancer prevention and gave information to students about how they can take care of their mother’s health and protect her from cancer. Free women’s health and cancer prevention camps were organized for the mothers and school staff, 110 women were screened. Special thanks to Mr. Rakesh Oberoi, the Management Committee of Geeta Bhawan and Mrs. Indu Datta.

Race for Grace Marathon for Cancer Awareness with Lovely Professional University Punjab

Race for Grace marathon was organized by Can Protect Foundation at Jalandhar Punjab, in association with Lovely Professional University and their student organization Club 20. Around 1700 students of Lovely Professional University participated in Cancer Awareness and prevention. Dr. Sumita Prabhakar gave a health talk on the topic of cancer prevention to the university students and staff by audio conferencing. Students showed great enthusiasm for cancer prevention and awareness.

A week-long free screening for breast and cervical cancer screening was organized by Dr. Sumita Prabhakar at CMI Hospital from February 7 to February 4. In which free Thermo mammography and colposcopy facilities were provided free of cost to the women. Many women benefited from this facility. We thank all members and volunteers of the Can Protect Foundation’s team and everyone who gave their support in our campaign.
